Below is a selection of recommended places to stay for your Lakeland Way adventure.

We suggest that to secure the best deals, you book direct with each host. Be aware that the hamlet of Dockray has very limited accommodation, but there is also the option of staying at the nearby village of Glenridding and using a local taxi service for the short journey.

Please note that there might be a ‘minimum stay’ policy at some places. However, these can be subject to change throughout the year so it’s best to ring for confirmation. For example, even though the National Trust’s policy is a “minimum stay of two nights” at their campsites, if you ring to book your pitch, explaining that you only have a small tent and that you are walking a long-distance path, the chances are they will accommodate you. The Caravan and Camping Club (CCC), based at Ravenglass and Braithwaite, have a similar policy, however, you cannot book your pitch in advance. It’s very unlikely though that you’ll be turned away, as both sites have spare areas dedicated for “backpackers” passing through.
